Population Control a Must for India.

–By Sourabh Singh

WHY IS POPULATION CONTROL IMPORTANT?

Population is a dynamic phenomenon. The numbers, distribution and composition of the population are constantly changing. This is the influence of the interaction of the three processes, namely – Births, Deaths and Migrations.

World Population Day is celebrated on 11th July every year. From the above graphical presentation, you will observe that population of Asia will be surpass all other Continents in the World by 2050.

India’s population is a problem because it directly impacts the economy as well as environment. India has 2.4% of the world’s total landmass, 4% water, and 16% population. For providing basic needs to the population, we need Coal Mining for Electricity and to provide basic necessities at affordable price to the population we need to produce food & food grains. We also have to ensure that every Indian gets drinking water since 40% of our population don’t get drinking water.

HOW POPULATION BOOSTS OUR ECONOMY?

Though population boosts our economy but providing basic necessities to our growing population with limited resources available in our Country is extremely difficult. India’s middle class are aspirant class, which aims for a better standard of living. Indian Population is young and dynamic who spend money as well as save for the future, which boosts our GDP.

In some cultures marriage of one man to more than one women is legal. This seems a little flawed because it compels a woman to have more children. But, there is no pressure on a man to control number of marriages. Therefore population becomes controversial and complicated topic globally.

SOME KEY FACTS:

You’ll be surprised to note that after independence of India, total 35 bills on population control were introduced but could be passed.

China was & is the most populous country globally. Hence, they introduced one child policy, but in 2015 they changed the policy to two child policy because slowly & steadily their working population was reducing and the dependent population kept on rising.

Population Control is necessary in our Country but controlling the same is quite difficult. The line between controlling & maintaining is very thin. If this balance gets vitiated on either side there can be drastic impact on the economy and the environment.

ADOPTION:

Adoption is a process of legally taking another’s child and bringing it up as one’s own, or the fact of being adopted where a person assumes the parenting of another, usually a child, from that person’s biological or legal parent or parents. Legal adoptions permanently transfer all rights and responsibilities.
• But when a single woman wants to adopt a child, she faces many issues from family & society etc.
• There are almost 3 crore orphans in India and every year 2 crore children are born.

We live in a country where we call Devaki and Yashoda as Shri Krishna’s mothers. One gave birth to Shri Krishna and the other gave love, affection and brought him up as her own son. Our history & culture also reminds us that a mother’s role is not just limited to being a biological parent.”

We, Indians should also think of adopting a child from various orphanages in our Country which will give home and love to many orphans. They will get an opportunity to lead a dignified life and also help to control the ever increasing population of our Country. This can only happen if the laws related to adoption are simplified and the Society at large accepts Adoption as a means of accepting a child in a Family just like a new born baby is accepted & welcomed in the house.
